To us before class, she lifts a white page,

Waving it to our mats, like a flag leading

a platoon of rainbow rafts, Hate has no place here

(white flag bristling) This is on yards, in shops, can you believe it

Can you believe it? She tells us

On our rafts, our laminated ocean, our walls

of wood. Boating on rainbows, we are

Safe. But for how long? I want to stand and

ask How long?

Answer me this, when you fold up your white flag

When you roll up your raft, when you leave us ,

Shipwrecked like strangers

How long will you walk until you look back?
